The Dietary Assistants prepares and helps serve side dishes and/or main dishes for Skilled Nursing, Room Service deliveries, and Assisted Living residents.

This position will be serving our Assisted Living Residents. Shift are Friday - Monday: 5:30a-2p and Tuesday 3:15-7:15p. A total of 36 hour per week with a possibilities of more hours as opportunities arise.

Previous experience a plus, but not required, as we provide on-the-job training. Fluent English speaking and writing skills, good time management skills, and appropriate appearance, speech, and behavior are all required for this position.

  • Reports to work on time and in proper uniform including hair restraints
  • Tallies and gathers menu items needed for meal service based on resident's menu selections
  • Sets areas with necessary food items for meal service and ensures all closing duties are completed by end of shift
  • Works closely with the Cook and Nurses on the same shift to ensure quality food and service is provided
  • Follows all sanitary work practices in accordance with state, federal, and local Health Codes
  • Will need to familiarize self with special diets, restrictions and allergies
  • Bussing, resetting and washing of dishes following proper procedure and restocks supplies before end of shift
  • Works with carts, can openers, scissors, dish machine, and steam table, and refrigerators
  • Reports and Communicates changes to supervisior

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Food Handler Permit a plus, but not required at time of hire
  • Must be familiar with basic foods, temperature controls, and safe food handling practices
  • Must be able to distinguish portion sizes, likes and dislikes, and plate presentation
  • Must be able to distinguish correct diet specifications and be able to read diet cards and interpret necessary restrictions, requirements, and allergies
  • Must understand and comply with the departmental policies and the overall policies and procedures of the Hearthstone
