Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC)
The Department of Corrections Health Services Division is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to take on the dynamic role of Physician 3 for the Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC) located in Monroe, WA. This is a non-permanent opportunity that is expected to last approximately one year.
The Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC) is a 2400 bed male all-custody level facility located 30 miles northeast of Seattle. The complex consists of four units; the original "reformatory", a large mental health inpatient treatment unit, a sex offender treatment unit and a minimum custody unit that also houses community corrections violators, much like a jail. Monroe is considered the hub of medical and psychiatric care for DOC. It is located close to University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center. MCC provides care for the sickest and most complicated patients in our system.
We're looking for physicians who are passionate about providing team-based, integrated care to patients with complex and challenging health conditions. Our Physicians work in a multi-disciplinary environment treating many people that are disenfranchised from outside medicine with untreated maladies and unusual pathology's. Physicians at DOC enjoy the satisfaction of practicing medicine while providing a positive compassionate experience for their patients. Our Physicians have no pressure of production-based patient care or insurance billing, and appreciate a good work-life balance.

- This position is responsible to direct and supervise a large medical and/or surgical service in the institution by:
· Participating in medical treatment with consulting physicians.· Performing diagnostic and treatment of diseases and injuries of patients at the institution.· Working in collaboration with others to ensure staff and resources are in place to provide offenders with appropriate and timely medical services consistent with established standards.· Creating a work environment that values high ethical standards, emphasizes safe, high quality medical care, nurtures teamwork and encourages activities which lead to continuous improvement.
- The successful candidate will have:
- An unencumbered license to practice medicine in the State of Washington (or the ability to obtain prior to employment).
- A current DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) registration.
- Completed and approved residency program.
- Board-certified or board eligible in primary care specialty (family practice, internal medicine) required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience in directing medical operations.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to provide education in a manner that enhances one to learn about their disease or chronic condition.
- Communicate orally and in writing with a variety of individuals ranging from correctional administrator and staff, health care professionals to patient advocates and other laypersons.

- Tuberculosis (TB) is a priority health issue for DOC employees. The successful candidate may be required to provide valid proof of a baseline TB skin test within 60 days from the date of hire.
