Project Full-Time, FLSA Non-Exempt Position

The Seattle Housing Authority, a nationally recognized leader in developing and maintaining affordable, innovative housing communities and programs, is accepting applications for a Landscaper with its Housing Operations team.

Please Note: This recruitment is for a Project Full-Time position with an anticipated end date of 1-year after hire.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of a Grounds Supervisor, perform a variety of duties as directed within the field of general landscaping.

Duties

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
E= Essential Functions
1.      Operate power equipment, such as riding and push lawn mowers, blowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, edgers, sod cutters, lawn aerators and 4 wheel all purpose vehicles. E
 
2.      Perform routine landscaping such as mowing, trimming, weeding and watering grass, flowers and shrubbery. Lawn restoration; spread bark and soil. E
 
3.      Trim trees from ground level; leaf and branch removal. E
 
4.      Install and maintain automatic grounds sprinkler systems. E
 
5.      Wash and maintain grounds equipment. E
 
6.      Remove paper, trash, and rubbish from facilities and grounds. E
 
7.      Install and replace landscaping; apply fertilizer and pesticides. E
 
8.      Attend all required training and safety meetings; use, maintain and replace assigned personal protective equipment; report all injuries and illnesses to supervisor immediately; complete and submit incident/accident reports as required; report hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices to supervisor; and follow all safety and health guidelines, practices, policies and procedures. Monitor and enforce the agency's Safety and Health Program, and actively support and participate in Emergency Preparedness tasks. E
 
9.      Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION:
High School diploma or G.E.D.
2-year degree in Landscape Maintenance or Horticulture preferred.
 
EXPERIENCE:
2-years experience performing general grounds/landscape maintenance, turf maintenance and renovation, bed care including installation and weed identification and control, landscape pesticide applications, or a combination thereof. 
 
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and fully insurable driving record.
Must hold a WSDA Commercial Operator Pesticide License or be able to obtain within 90 days.

This is an FLSA Non-Exempt position covered by a collective bargaining agreement

·         Able to frequently and safely lift objects weighing 50 pounds or more.

·         Inclement weather.
·         Work with angry, hostile or abusive individuals.
