  • Overview

    This position is responsible for supporting Injection Molding to include setup/startup, material preparation, in-process inspections of production parts, conducting material movements. Regrinding of sprues and runners and scrapping of contaminated parts/materials. This position works under moderate supervision.


    • Perform in-process inspection of injection molded components which includes visual inspection and/or dimensional measurement for conformance to requirements defined on drawings, Standard Inspection Plans, Visual Factory or other documents
    • Weigh count and stage transacted molded materials for put-away
    • Removes scrap and trash from manufacturing areas
    • Generate production, move and scrap transactions as needed to ensure inventory accuracy
    • Clean auxiliary equipment that supports Injection Mold process
    • Responsible for set-up/start-up of Injection Molding Equipment
    • Monitor tooling condition and notify tooling when mold is unable to produce quality parts or when preventative maintenance is required
    • Reprocessing sprues and runners into regrind to be blended back into the process per quality system requirements


    Education & Experience:

    • High School education or GED preferred
    • Minimum one (1) year related injection molding experience and/or training
    • Proficient in the safe preparation, operation, and cleaning of auxiliary equipment as appropriate for the successful completion of injection molding tasks

    Skills & Abilities:

    • Ability to read, understand, and navigate through online assembly process documents
    • Ability to perform inventory movement transactions
    • Understanding of basic math skills – adding, subtracting and measuring
    • Ability to read drawings & blueprints
    • Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions both verbally and in written format
    • Ability to use judgement to identify potential safety hazards
    • Ability to use judgment related to identifying and segregating non-conforming materials and components
    • Ability to work effectively in a team oriented environment
    • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility
    • Ability to communicate and interact with support personnel from engineering, tool room, and/or quality to resolve production equipment and/or process issues
    • Ability to successfully train others
    • This position requires 20% clerical and planning and 80% material handling, production assembly machine operations, and/or walking and assisting production employees
    • Work is primarily performed on the manufacturing floor where noise levels may be moderate or high and hearing protection may have to be worn
    • Eye and foot protection may have to be worn
    • There is potential for lifting weights up to 45 lbs.
    • There is potential exposure to extreme temperatures
    • The occasional physical demands of the position include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and eye/hand/foot coordination
    • May stand or sit for prolonged periods of time

    Shift Hours:

    • 1st, 2nd, 3rd injection mold shifts are available
