The Central Office Specialist is an accomplished teacher who serves in a leadership role at the system level. A specialist provides expert consultation through facilitating collaboration, instructional coaching, and serving as a system leader across a variety of roles. The Central Office Specialist sees her or his ongoing learning and development as essential to achieve equitable results for all students.

Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, and White Center in Washington State. In 2013, parents, students, community members, and staff at all levels of the district came together to develop a strategic plan that reflects our goals and dreams for our students. The plan was updated in 2018 to guide our work through 2023. The plan’s promise is that every student in Highline Public Schools is known by name, strength, and need, and graduates prepared for the future they choose. CENTRAL OFFICE SPECIALIST * Connect and collaborate with families, community stakeholders, and other educational agencies * Support the design and implementation of instructional programs at the school and system level * Provide guidance and support for schools in implementing instructional programs * Maintain and communicate information about current program * Model leadership with a focus on racial equity * Review current literature and engage in research in specific content area * Provide direct student support Other Functions * Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit and supporting student learning objectives.


WA State Teaching Certificate with endorsements appropriate to subject area and grade level of assignment Three years successful teaching experience One year successful experience as a specialist or similar role

Criminal background clearance First Aid and CPR certificate within 90 days of hire Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of insurance
