JOB TITLE: GUEST CASHIER
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
WORK DAYS PER FISCAL YEAR: Varies - works on-call as needed
SUMMARY: Receives money and tickets for the child nutrition program. Prepares petty cash fund, counts and records money received, prepares daily deposits, records the type of meals sold, tallies milk count.
CONTEXT AND MISSION: Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, Boulevard Park and White Center Heights in Washington State. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Accounts for students accurately at point of sale. - Receives and maintains security of petty cash fund. - Counts and deposits cash receipts. - Maintains roster of students qualifying for free and reduced price meal benefits. - Receives cash from students and staff purchasing food. - Maintains accurate meal ticket records. Notifies students when tickets are close to expiring. - Processes free and reduced lunch applications. - Maintains meal counts by type, obtains tray count, and accurately completes paperwork. - Orders milk for meal program. May oversee student milk sellers - Assists kitchen staff. - Monitors behavior of students in lunch line. Maintains orderly progression. - Updates computer databases re new students, status, and meal count balances. Other Functions - Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:: One year related work experience
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Criminal background clearance
KNOWLEDGE OF: Computerized cash register and related software Cashing procedures Recordkeeping School board policies and procedures
ABILITY TO: Communicate effectively verbally and in writing Read and comprehend various documents and instructions Operate a microcomputer and related software including computerized cash register Make accurate arithmetical calculations Count money quickly and correctly; issue change Maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups in a multicultural and diverse community Remain flexible to changes in assignments and situations Organize work, problem solve and select action plans Attend to detail and follow tasks through to completion Comply with school board policies and follow administrative procedures
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Director of Nutrition Services or designee
EVALUATION: This position will be evaluated by the Director of Nutrition Services or designee based on performance of duties and responsibilities.

JOB DESCRIPTION: GUEST CASHIER While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video display. The employee will experience constant interruptions; required to meet deadlines. Exposed to infectious diseases carried by students. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
