Description

We are seeking Behavior Technicians/Para-educators for our client in Lakeside, WA. This position will be carried out within a school setting and is a contract to hire opportunity.

 

Responsibilities

  • Have an interest in providing support for students requiring 1:1 behavioral support assistance. Behaviors range from mild/moderate to severe behaviors.
     
  • Support school staff with:
    (a) behavior therapy strategies,
    (b) communication protocols for non-verbal students,
    (c) physical behavior strategies,
    (d) Autism-based interventions
    (e) Right Response/CPI or other evidence based training in de-escalation and safety strategies.
     
  • Interested in a rewarding career working with students with disabilities OR already have experience working with children with special needs or Autism Spectrum Disorder
     
  • Collect accurate and consistent data related to programs and target behaviors
     
  • Provide feedback to parents/caregivers and teachers outlined within the program plan
     
  • Accept and apply ongoing feedback provided by supervisors, administration and school staff
     
  • Communicate concerns and emergencies to supervisor immediately
     
  • Attend and participate in regular IEP and BIP meetings
     
  • Attend and participate in ongoing training (for the school district and EdForce)
     
  • A desire to learn and grow
     
  • Communicate effectively electronically via phone and email

 

 

         Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to play and interact with clients on the floor for extended durations of time
  • Must be able to sit/stand/walk/run/jump/crouch/kneel/reach above head/crawl/bend
  • Able lift a minimum of 50lbs
  • Maintain safety of the student and surrounding environment throughout the work day
     
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Minimum of an AA/AS Degree
  • Have a car and valid driver's license with proof of insurance
  • Are eager, energetic, and passionate demeanor
  • Must pass TB test and criminal background and fingerprint screening

 

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to play and interact with clients on the floor for extended durations of time
  • Sit/stand/walk/run/jump/crouch/kneel/reach above head/crawl/bend and lift at least 50 pounds at any time
  • Maintain safety of the student and surrounding environment throughout the work day
     
     
    Preferred Educational and Field Experience:
  • Possess a BA/BS degree or higher in applied behavior analysis, psychology, child development, education, special education, social work, or a related field.
  • Experience implementing Applied Behavior Analysis principles (Additional training provided)
  • Experience working with special needs population
     
    Schedule: 25-35hrs per week
    Pay: $22-$25/HR DOE
    Length: Contract to Hire (90 days)
