Due to company growth, we have openings for Vermeer/Ditch Witch Drill Rig Operators. At least two years’ experience in fiber optic construction is preferred. Prior experience operating construction equipment, including backhoes, front-end loaders, air compressors, drill rigs, trenchers, and hydraulic reel trailers is required. A class A CDL with a tanker endorsement, medical card and an acceptable driving record is necessary.
Place duct and fiber optic cable utilizing directional drilling and ancillary equipment, including excavators, backhoes, cable blowing and pulling equipment.
Complete drilling logs and production reports.
Maintain a clean work site to include all equipment.
Clean and perform minor maintenance on equipment, as required.
Notify foreman of unanticipated field changes and suggest possible alternatives.
Document deficiencies in safety practices/equipment to foreman.
Inspect vehicles and equipment prior to and after use, including checking fluid levels and tire pressure, to ensure their safe and proper operation.
Drive trucks and equipment to job sites.
Perform on call duties as required.
Travel out of town, and perform over-night work as schedule requires.
Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Ability operate a directional drill and locate utilities for drill rig operator.
Knowledge of and experience in operation of heavy construction equipment.
Able to read and understand construction prints, maps and plans.
Ability to work with limited supervision, in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions.
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work effectively.
Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers as it relates to job progress.
Must maintain a CDL (Class – A) with tanker endorsement, medical card and an acceptable driving record.
