    The AWS documentation team is looking for a Programmer Writer to document the Amazon Cognito service. As a writer on Cognito you'll create code samples as well as conceptual content for developers and administrators. Cognito lets you add sign-up, sign-in, and access control to your web and mobile applications. With Cognito, you can add support for multiple identity providers (such as Facebook, Google, Amazon, and more) to your business.

    As a Programmer Writer you'll work with a stellar technical team to produce product documentation in a cross-functional, distributed environment.

The documentation team executes this role by delivering content that gets customers up and running quickly, and making sure product details are clearly described and easy to follow.

    An ideal candidate has a technical background that enables them to engage Software Development Engineers, Program Managers, Product Managers, customers and partners. Additionally, you should be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver high-quality technical publications.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Drive the development of the Cognito documentation
    • Independently follow designs and standards to develop and deliver documentation for AWS products
    • Create and edit code samples
    • Produce conceptual, how-to, and API reference documentation
    • Help define writing projects
    • Assess market feedback on service adoption

    Basic Qualifications

    • A minimum of 5 years in a technical writing or coding role
    • Proven experience designing and delivering developer-oriented documentation, including following a style guide
    • Ability to write example code in one or more for the following programming languages: JavaScript, Kotlin, Java, Swift, Objective-C
    • Experienced using multiple documentation tools to develop base templates and manipulate output styles
    • Experience with XML-based publishing systems
    • Experience working directly with development teams

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with cloud computing, Web services, IaaS, PaaS, or related areas is a plus.
    • Experience writing for mobile developers who build native, hybrid, or progressive web apps.
    • Experience using one of more of the following mobile development platforms: Android, iOS, React, React Native, Ionic.
    • Strong grammar skills
    • Previous experience working in an agile environment a plus
    • Passion to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
    • A proactive and open-minded attitude to resolving problems and delivering results
    • Strong attention to detail
